San Luis Obispo AWS Meetup Group: Fun with Amazon Rekognition App
Amazon Rekognition is a powerful API that can identify objects, people, text, scenes, and activities, as well as detect any inappropriate content in images or videos provided. A highly scalable tool, the deep learning technology can be used to analyze billions of images and videos daily, and has a wide range of applications.
Since we always endeavor to make our AWS Meetups both instructional and entertaining, as the group attending our San Luis Obispo Meetup at Cal Poly experienced first-hand, we decided to put Amazon Rekognition to the test. Meetup participants were requested to try and “check in” with a photo, which would be matched to the photo used in their San Luis Obispo AWS User Group member profile picture.
